# KPI calculations

The KPIs are grouped into four categories: Network, Operations, Efficiency, and Comfort. Each KPI score ranges from 0 to 100, or may be NULL if the metric is not applicable.

## What each KPI represents:

* **Network:** Measures the percentage of equipment currently reporting data to Neuro. A higher score indicates more equipment is online and communicating.
* **Operations:** Reflects how well a site or piece of equipment is functioning operationally. A lower score suggests potential operational issues.
* **Efficiency:** Evaluates how efficiently equipment is operating. For example, if a domestic hot water (DHW) tank continues heating even after exceeding its setpoint, it is wasting energy, negatively impacting the efficiency score.
* **Comfort:** Assesses how well equipment maintains comfort levels. For example, if room temperatures are significantly above or below their setpoints, the comfort score will decrease.

## Important Notes:

* Only equipment that is currently reporting values to Neuro can have active issues impacting KPIs.
* If equipment is offline, it will have a Network KPI of 0, and its Operations, Efficiency, and Comfort KPIs will be NULL, since performance cannot be evaluated without live data.

## KPI Hierarchy

KPI scores are calculated at different levels:

* **Equipment Level:** Each piece of equipment has its own set of KPIs, which decrease based on the number and severity of current issues.
* **Site Level:** A site's KPIs are calculated as a weighted average of its equipment KPIs, with weights based on service area and a priority value assigned to the equipment.
* **Overall Level:** The overall KPIs are computed as the average of all site KPIs.

## Impact of Issues on KPI Scores

Each detected issue can be associated with a specific KPI category and assigned a Priority value. The Priority determines how much the issue affects the corresponding KPI score:

* Higher priority issues have a greater negative impact.
* Multiple issues can combine to further reduce the KPI score.
